INGREDIENT:
- Mussels -1 pound
- Rice - 1 cup
- Water -2 cups
- Cumin seeds -1/2tsp
- Bay leaves -2
- Cloves -4
- Cinnamon stick -1inch
- Onion - 1 big chopped
- Tomato -1 medium chopped
- Green chilly - 2 medium slitted
- Garlic paste -1/2tsp
- Ginger paste -1/2tsp
- Red chilly powder -1tsp
- Coriander powder -1/2 tsp
- Tumeric powder -1/4tsp
- Garam masala powder -1/2tsp
- Mint powder/ Fresh mint leaves -1/2tsp
- Cilantro - a handful
- Salt to taste
- Oil -3 tbsp
PREPARATION METHOD:
- Remove the mussels from its shells , clean it and keep aside.
- Heat the cooker on medium flame and add oil.
- Wash rice and keep it aside.
- When oil heats up, add cumin seeds,cloves,cinnamon stick and bay leaves and fry for a minute.
- Add green chillies, chopped onions and fry till light brown.
- Then add mint powder, chopped tomato and handful of coriander leaves and stir well.
- Now add all dry masala powder ie red chilly powder,tumeric powder,coriander powder and tumeric powder and stir the mixture well.
- Finally add washed rice along with the water.
- Add salt as per the taste.
- Close the lid of the cooker and wait till you hear 2 to 3 whistles.
- Turn off the flame and leave the cooker for sometimes.
- Biryani is ready to serve.
- Mussels Biryani can be served with onion salad
- This recipe can be served for 2 people.
