INGREDIENTS
- Colocasia leaves -6
- Coconut -3/4 cup
- Coriander seeds - 1/2tsp
- Red chillies -5
- Rice -1/2tsp
- Moong dal or toor dal -1/4 cup
- Urad dal -1 tsp
- tamarind paste - 1tbsp
- jaggery -1 tsp
- garlic cloves -2
- oil - 1tbsp
- Semolina -1/4 cup
- salt to taste
PREPARATION
- Wash and dry colocasia leaves.
- Cut stem and crushed any hard veins of the colocasia leaves.
- Soak moong dal and rice into water
- Place skillet on the flame and add oil into it.
- When oil heats up, add coriander seeds and urad dal.Fry for a minute.
- Remove it and in the same oil fry red chillies.
- Grind coconut,red chilly, coriander seeds, urad dal,soaked moong dal and rice to the smooth paste.
- Now apply the masala paste on the one leaf.On that leaf place another leaf.
- Again apply the masala and again do the same thing.
- Like this two pathrodes are done,each with 3 leaves.
- Also you can increase the number of leaves in each pathrode.
- when done, roll out the leaves in inner position of the leaves.
- Cut the roll into thin circles(pieces) using sharp knife.
- Steam the pieces in pressure cooker for about 15 minutes.
- Take out the pieces from cooker and shallow fry it by applying thin coat of semolina.
- Pathrode is ready to serve.
- Pathrode can be served with hot rice and dal.
